<Professional Practice 1> taught me about professional and contractual responsibilities of a quantity surveyor in the consultant group from the design stage to the final account stage. It focus on the importance of a clear understanding of the organization and administration of quantity surveyor practices and the legal and contractual procedures in relation to building procurement.

With the clear explanation of Mr.Wong,i understand the clauses in PAM CONTRACT 2006 which related to construction period, insurances, Liquidated and Ascertained Damages, performance bonds, retention sums and other clauses forming basis of contract. Also the procurement method for construction project, pre-contract and post-contract stage, tendering methods and procedures, evaluation and reporting of tenders and contract choices.

This module is graded by a mid-term tests, group assignment and final exam. With a group of 5 to carried out the group assignment, we are invited to submit a proposal on the best procurement, tendering and contract arrangement to meet all the requirements of our clients who wants to develop a RM 600 million hotel and shopping complex in the center of the Golden Triangle, Kuala Lumpur within the shortest time possible perhaps within 20 months in order to take advantage of the influx of tourist as the country will be hosting the COMMONWEALTH GAMES in 24 months. Then, present our proposed arrangement to the client.
